The Shaanxi Province’s first successful production of 8mm-thin plate has been achieved at Hanzhong Steel’s plate rolling line.

Normally, production of such an ultra-slim specification would be challenged by significant temperature drop, difficulties in controlling the plate’s profile and the requirements of thickness precision.

The Shaanxi Province’s first plate rolling line was independently developed by CISDI, including the line’s construction, its level 1 and 2 automation systems and the intelligent tech applications for rolling, finishing and cutting operations.

Breakthroughs were achieved in the rolling mill’s optimal load distribution, high-precision automatic gauge control (AGC) and plate profile control.

An advanced information tech and highly-integrated control system has been applied, ensuring the following achievements:

w   more precise products

w   a higher rate of finished products

w   automatic rotation of the hot bar with over 90 per cent accuracy, reducing the need for manual intervention

w   fewer, and often zero, workers are required in the production process.

CISDI will continue to support the line’s new steel grade development and enhance product quality.

The CISDI-built 3,500mm plate rolling line is making a production breakthrough at Hanzhong Steel
